Salvatore Ferragamo (June 5, 1898 - August 7, 1960) was a 20th century Italian footwear designer, providing Hollywood's glitterati and many others with unique hand-made designs and spawning an empire of luxury consumer goods emporia for men and women. Ferragamo began his career in Naples during the 1910s, and then moved to the United States for several years first to Boston and then to California.
